Rhenium (Re) X-outs
Rhenium metal ingot - one troy ounce - .9999 bullion - X-out batch
Rhenium was discovered in Germany in 1925, was the last stable element to be discovered, and is named after the Rhine River. It is among the most rare elements in the earths crust with an estimated concentration of 1 part per billion. In 2012 only 52 tonnes of rhenium was mined worldwide compared to 2700 tonnes of gold and 1,100,000,000 tonnes of iron. Rhenium has the highest boiling point of all elements, the second highest melting point of all elemental metals and is among the most dense. It's annealed form is very ductile and its alloys can be superconductive. These properties make this metal critical and essentially irreplaceable in military and other high performance jet engine components. The unique properties of rhenium have other applications in the chemical, electronics and energy industries. Please see the below links for additional information.
Inscribed on our ingots are the chemical symbol (Re), purity (99.99%), weight (one troy ounce), and a special serial number series of XX01-XX91. On the reverse is our logo. These ingots are nicely polished though not all are as well polished as the single one pictured. This batch of rhenium, due to differences in grain size while controlling the other sintering variables to produce our well formed ingots, came out less dense than expected. In fact they are approximately 36% less than the true density of rhenium and also well under the density of our standard Re ingots which can also vary by batch due to these same variables, but not by this much. Of course they are still 99.99% pure rhenium like our standard ingots and like all of our metals their purity has been confirmed by our regional materials testing labs. We will offer the 91 ingots from this batch as an X-out odd lot at substantial savings over our standard rhenium ingots. Of course the inherent value of the one troy ounce plus of the precious metal in each of these ingots is unchanged.
Each ingot will be shipped with an assay certificate and with our velvet logo bag for storage. If you are not completely satisfied with any purchase from us, you have 30 days to return it for a full refund (buyer to pay return shipping). Domestic shipping is free for all orders over $199 (enter code free shipping at checkout). For orders of $199 or under, domestic shipping is $9.95. International shipping is now via USPS international priority express and costs $45 for shipments up to a pound (9 one ounce ingots or less including packaging materials) and $10 for each additional pound.
