Gold coin - 1.875 grams AGW - .900 bullion
Long ago we decided not to try to compete with existing commercially available precious metals products but as we have already filled out many of the metallic elements in the periodic table, the glaring holes of some of the most intriguing and precious of the elemental metals still unfilled are becoming more obvious. We thus decided it was time to offer our customers options to obtain from us some of these other elemental metals such as gold, platinum, palladium, and rhodium.
We are offering gold bullion from The Mexican Mint (La Casa de Moneda de México) in San Luis Potosí which is the oldest mint in The Americas. The Mexican Mint's Dos Y Medio Pesos (2.5 pesos) coin may be of random years though most are dated 1945 and will come in our very own RWMM coin flip. We've chosen this format to represent the some of the best of the world in our product offerings. The small format of these coins also makes them more affordable.
Gold occurs naturally most often in its free elemental or native form and has thus been known and considered precious since ancient times and has been used in coinage, jewelry and art throughout recorded history. It is incredibly corrosion resistant, beautiful, malleable and ductile. It can be drawn into a monoatomic wire. Just one gram of gold can be formed into a semitransparent sheet of one square meter, and such forms strongly reflect infrarred light, thus useful in heat shields. It also has uses in electronics, medicine, photography and as a chemical catalyst. Most importantly it has been used as a store of value throughout history as gold coins have been used as currency for thousands of years until 1971 when the international gold standard was abandoned in favor of purely fiat currencies. It has been our premise since inception that there are many other rare metals that can also be effective stores of wealth, some of which are much more rare than gold, though none will likely ever dethrone king gold as the most monetary metal.
